“Unsustainable.”

For the second year in a row Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner used his Senate testimony to slam his boss’ budget.  Geithner told Alabama Senator Pete Sessions that the Obama budget is “unsustainable.”

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner today admitted under questioning from Sen. Sessions that the president’s own budget is “unsustainable.” Sec. Geithner made a similar admission last year, when he said that “with the president’s plan, even if Congress were to enact it and even if Congress were to hold it and reduce those deficits to three percent of GDP over the next five years, we would still be left with a very large interest burden and unsustainable obligations over time.”

Although Tim Geithner’s testimony hurts President Obama, it was probably a very smart thing to do.  Someday when the debt hits the fan and future lawmakers are rounding up those responsible for America’s economic collapse, Geithner will have his out.  Whether they buy it or not is another story.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. - Ephesians 6: 12-13
