I am not saying Harry Reid is a Hypocrite, but…

… Harry Reid is a hypocrite.
“They’ve either taken leave of their senses or their principles.”
Interestingly, Senator Reid took leave of his principles way back in 1993;
Mr. Reid introduced a bill to the Senate Judiciary Committee as the Immigration Stabilization Act of 1993. The bill, which died in committee after it was referred to the Subcommittee on Immigration and Refugee Affairs, includes tough immigration provisions that would make many wonder where Mr. Reid truly stands on the immigration and border debate.
Title X of the Reid introduced bill shows the Nevada Democrat took Mr. Graham’s idea on the interpretation of the 14th Amendment and documented it into legislation:
“TITLE X—CITIZENSHIP 4 SEC. 1001. BASIS OF CITIZENSHIP CLARIFIED. In the exercise of its powers under section of the Fourteenth Article of Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, the Congress has determined and hereby declares that any person born after the date of enactment of this title to a mother who is neither a citizen of the United States nor admitted to the United States as a lawful permanent resident, and which person is a national or citizen of another country of which either of his or her natural parents is a national or citizen, or is entitled upon application to become a national or citizen of such country, shall be considered as born subject to the jurisdiction of that foreign country and not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States within the meaning of section 1 of such Article and shall therefore not be a citizen of the United States or of any State solely by reason of physical presence within the United States at the moment of birth.”
Even the summary of the bill contains language that would offend many of Mr. Reid’s supporters who are pushing amnesty for illegal immigrants in the United States:
“A bill to curb criminal activity by aliens, to defend against acts of international terrorism, to protect American workers from unfair labor competition, and to relieve pressure on public services by strengthening border security and stabilizing immigration into the United States.”
Personally, I don’t know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could vote for Harry Reid.

Actually, Harry Reid is not a hypocrite.
4 years ago he publicly apologized, profusely, for introducing that bill – calling it the low point of his career, the biggest mistake he ever made.
That is courage – to admit a mistake publicly – on the floor of the Senate.
Lets see how many years it will take the loonies on the right to understand their mistakes.
Actually Harry Reid is a hypocrite, and a dumb one at that. Reid wrote and promoted a bill that dramatically alters the 14th Amendment. No other politician in either party has done so.
Now, the only man in the US Senate who has ever written a bill to limit the rights of illegal immigrants, has the gall to say he sees no reason how Hispanics could support a Republican.
I see no reason how any Latino could support a HYPOCRITE like Harry Reid.
“Now, the only man in the US Senate who has ever written a bill to limit the rights of illegal immigrants…”
Are you willfully trying to ignore the obvious point here? No human, you included, is immune from making mistakes. Even big ones. What is honorable and courageous is to be open to realizing and accepting your mistakes, and publicly acknowledging them.
Surely as a thinking man, rather than as just a rabid partisan, you can understand that.
“I see no reason how any Latino could support a HYPOCRITE like Harry Reid.”
Well, of course he is no hypocrite – unless you want to claim that anyone who makes a mistake, acknowledges it, and changes his mind, publicly (and long before this current issue came to the fore) is a hypocrite. How can you argue that? Changing ones mind when you are wrong is a very good thing to do.
But you cannot see how any Latino could support Reid because he once was opposed to birthright citzenship, and now he supports it???
Aren’t you simply agreeing with Reid here? You are arguing that no latino should ever support anyone who opposed birthright citzenship, at any time in their life – even if they later change their mind! So all the contemporary Republicans who hold that position today should obviously not get Latino support, according to you.
Partisanship does terrible things to the logical faculties…
The point is, Harry Reid is a hypocrite!
