Bad News for Palin’s Potential 2012 Plans

Democrats loathe her.
Conservatives love former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and think she would make an awesome President.
Democrats, Liberals and Moderates disagree.
Almost three out of five Americans believe former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) would not be an effective president, a new poll found Monday.
59 percent of U.S. adults said they don’t think Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate and potential 2012 candidate, would be an effective president of the United States.
26 percent of adults, by contrast, said they believe Palin would be effective, according to a 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair poll conducted earlier this August. If Palin were to run for president in 2012, she might also face difficulty in winning over independents, 63 percent of whom told the poll that Palin would not have the ability to be effective in the Oval Office. 21 percent of independents said Palin would have those skills.
You can rest assured that Palin is not going to let the polls decide what her plans are for 2012, but this one should give her pause.
While she may have what it takes to win the Republican nomination, the numbers show that she may better serve her country and her party by playing the role of “kingmaker” rather than attempting to win the top spot on the ticket herself. Then again, the Former Governor does have over a year to lift her standing with Democrats and Independents.
Whether Palin continues to build her base within the GOP, or if she decides to reach out to non-Conservative voters over the next few months will signal where her intentions lie for 2012.

CBS/Vanity Fair?? Are you kidding me. Among the most left wing biased organization commision a poll to “push” their agenda, and you buy it hook line & sinker. I think I’ll let the real voters decide if and when she runs, rather than relying on “journilist” types.
There is no doubt that CBS/Vanity Fair is one of the worst polling organizations in the industry and as you allude to, the question asked, would she make an “effective President” rather than would you vote for her, is poorly done and leads the person being questioned toward a specific answer.
That being said, other polls have shown similar results. Palin is adored among Conservatives, despised among Liberals and not well respected among those in the middle (those who really decide election results). Palin must find a way to connect with a majority of those in the middle and a few of those left of center if she wants to be elected President.
Otherwise, another role, like that of ‘kingmaker’ might better serve her and the party.
That settles it then. She shouldn’t run. I love the smell of CBS’ desperation in the morning…
EXACTLY! Neither you, me or CBS News is going to tell Sarah Palin what to do.
There is an old joke about two hikers talking about wbat theywould do if tbey encountered a bear.
The first hiker said that he would run away.
The second, yes but human can run as fast as thirty miles per hour. A bear can run as was as forty.
The first, true, but I don’t have to run faster than the bear,. I have to run faster than you.
So as to a potential Obama/Palin match-up, Sarah Paline woujd not have to convince the voters that she had the experience to be a good president, just a better one than Dim Won, a/k/a Barack Obama. That is a mightly low bar.
For what is is worth, right now if had to pick a canidate, I’d go with Mitt Romney, even being Mormon is political poison.
Today, that is an easy run. Two years from now, we’ll see.
